You can bring your car on Shelter Island and you can view all directions and transportation information on our website under “The Area” section. Cars are allowed on the Island. You drive right on the ferry for a reasonable price.
Is there free parking on Shelter Island?
Vehicles registered with a Shelter Island address or to an owner of real property within the Town of Shelter Island may obtain parking permits FREE. Others pay as follows: Day Permits $25.00: (Only 10 per day will be issued. Available only for Wades Beach and Shell Beach.)
Can you drink at Kate Sessions Park?
Alcohol is NOT allowed at Kate Sessions Park, per San Diego Municipal Code (page 21 of that document lists Kate Sessions Park has having a 24 hour ban on alcohol). Please keep in mind that glass is never allowed at any park, for safety.
Can you drive onto Shelter Island?
It is possible to drive to Shelter Island from mainland USA via Long Island but you will need to transport your car to the island by ferry from Sag Harbor or Greenport. The ferry company from Greenport is the North Ferry Co and it’ll cost $12 to go one-way for the car and driver plus an extra $2 per extra passenger.
