This weed preventer contains Dimension herbicide, which may be applied up to 4 weeks later than other crabgrass preventers and provides up to 4 months of crabgrass control. This provides pre-emergent control of crabgrass and control or suppression of other listed weeds when applied prior to their germination.
When to apply Hi Yield?
To be successful, apply Hi-Yield Crabgrass Control approximately 1 to 2 weeks before the germination of annual grass weeds. For spring grasses, this is typically late February to early March (depends on your location). Timing is available at your local extension offices.

How do you mix Hi Yield 38 Plus?
Mix 1.6 fluid ozs. (3 ¼ Tablespoons) of this product per gallon of spray solution to make a 0.5% emulsion (1 Fluid oz. =2 Tablespoons (T) = 6 teaspoons (tsp.). Apply a 0.5 % emulsion as a pin stream low-pressure spray or as a paint-on application with a paintbrush.

Yes, Hi-Yield Lawn, Garden, Pet and Livestock Insect Control is pet safe if used as directed. Pets should be kept out of the area during application, but can return once all surfaces are dry.
Can you plant grass with crabgrass preventer?
Do not spread seed on the ground, then apply crabgrass preventer. This will be a disappointment because most of the seed will not survive. DO NOT aerate and over-seed then apply crabgrass preventer before the new seed has grown completely out of the seed. This will also lead to a failed seeding effort.

You can plant grass seed immediately after applying fertilizer. Please make sure there is no weed preventer in the fertilizer, as this will also prevent the grass seed from germinating.
