How hard is Schumann Kreisleriana?
Kreisleriana is a very difficult piece to hold together, as with a lot of Schumann. The Rachmaninoff is more challenging technically, but easier to present to an audience. The composers want performers be imaginative, in the direction of their thinking–not just robots, who execute orders.
