How hard is Recon Marine training?
The Reconnaissance selection and training course is intensely rigorous. A high dropout rate is a testament to how challenging both the physical and mental aspects of Recon selection are. But it is also frustrating for the Marine Corps—and expensive.
How long is Marine Force RECON training?
12-week
A Recon Marine can speak without saying a word and achieve what other can only imagine. BRC is a 12-week course designed to train Marines in the tactics, techniques, and procedures of amphibious reconnaissance operations, and to qualify Marines for duty as a Reconnaissance Man (Military Occupational Specialty 0321).
What training do recon Marines go through?

Enlisted Marines and new recruits can qualify to become a Recon Marine candidate if they:
- Are a U.S. citizen.
- Score a 105 or higher on your ASVAB’s General Technical section.
- Be very physically fit as a swimmer and for fitness tests.
- Can get a secret security clearance.
- Pass a screening for selection.
