Can you bring your own food to Baltimore Zoo?
Zoo guests are permitted to bring their own food and drink, excluding alcohol, and food in glass containers.
Does the Maryland Zoo sell food?
Eat and drink at the Zoo! Food and refreshment services are provided by Service Systems Associates (SSA) throughout the Zoo. Vending machines are also provided in several locations throughout the Zoo. A portion of all sales directly benefits the Maryland Zoo’s conservation and education programs.

How long does it take to go through the Baltimore Zoo?
We’d recommend a minimum of 2-3 hours to see most of the Zoo exhibits. There are three sections of the Zoo, the largest is the African collection of animals and with time accounted for getting to and from each area you’ll want to budget this time to see most of the animals.

The drive to the zoo within Baltimore city itself was fairly bad. The area immediately outside of the zoo seemed to be very rough and crime-ridden. Perhaps not the best place to be driving a family of young kids. The zoo grounds itself, however, seemed fairly safe.
