In order to log in to a previously created account, you must have logged in sometime between August 1, 2020 and July 28, 2021. Otherwise, your account is no longer available.

How do I find old Common App essays?

You can sign into your Common App account and access PDFs of your submitted applications on your dashboard. The PDF copy includes your responses to Common App questions and college-specific questions. It does not include any information about your counselor forms or other letters of recommendation.

How long does Common App keep your info?

The Common Application keeps your personal information for as long as it is necessary to provide you with the Common Application service or we have another legitimate reason to retain it, including longitudinal studies using aggregate data.

The Common App ID (CAID) is located at the top right corner of each page within your Common App account. If you contact a college to which you’re applying through the Common App, it’s a good idea to provide your CAID so they can know a bit more about you.

Does Common App reset every year?

Every year on August 1, Common App gets a refresh. You can still sign in with your username and password, but you may notice some changes. Each year we may remove some questions, ask new questions, or make some other adjustments.

Can my high school see my Common App?

Schools do not have any access to your information until you add them to your My Colleges list. At that point, they can see only the information you have filled out for their school. Once you submit an application to a school, that school will have access to all the information on the specific application.

Is Common App Safe?

Common App employs industry-proven standards and technologies to protect the security of your information. Every page rendered through this online application, including the application fee payment page (if applicable), and all information you send, is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security) technology.

What do I put for final grade on Common App?

Do not enter a final grade. Enter the semester grade in the semester in which you took the course. Report Course Credits – enter credits as they appear on your transcript. Enter 1.0 in “Final” for yearlong courses.

Does Common App require recommendation letters?

Do I need to submit a letter of recommendation (or more than one)? The letter of recommendation is only required for a holistic review. You only need to submit one letter of recommendation. If you do not submit the letter of recommendation, you will be reviewed on academic merit only.

Does Common App shut down?

Each year, the Common App goes offline to prepare for the launch of the new application. The 2020-2021 first-year application will close to students and recommenders at 5 p.m. ET on July 28. The 2021-2022 application will launch on August 1.

What happens when Common App closes?

The Common Application will be shutting down at 11:59 PM on July 12, and re-launching on August 1. All applicant data will be cleared from the system, and any work done on your application before then will be lost. You can still begin your application early, as long as you take the right steps to save your work.

Can counselors see your personal statement?

Please note that a Counselor cannot edit or change your application in any way; they may only see the answers you have provided. You can also disable a Counselor’s access to your application at any time by clicking on the “Disable Preview” option.
