Is R-8 Good insulation?
R8 ducting is more efficient at heat insulation than R6 ducting. R8 ducting reduces energy loss by about 2 percent. This results in consuming 3 percent less energy. That means your energy bills will be lower if your home has R8 ductwork.
Does Reflectix have an R-value?
The values utilized in Reflectix® R-value calculations for Interior “Air Films” are as follows: Reflective side of product: R-4.55 Down • R-1.32 Up • R-1.70 Horizontal. White side of Product: R-0.92 Down • R-0.61 Up • R-0.68 Horizontal.
What R-value is Reflectix?
Reflectix’s stated R-14 R-values for exterior walls are good only if the Reflectix is paired up with R-13 fiberglass batt insulation. If you do not provide air space, Reflectix has less insulating value.
Is Reflectix an air barrier?
The Goal: Create two approximately equal continuous 1 3/4” air spaces on each side of the Reflectix® Insulation. This application also provides a vapor/moisture barrier. Finish wall interior with a panel or sheathing (Product is not specified as an interior wall covering).
Is R8 or R6 better?
R8 ducting uses thicker insulation than R6 ducting. This means that if you were to do air conditioning installation using R8 ducting, you get better insulation than if you are using R6 ducting. When it comes to efficiency of heat insulation R6 ducting is less efficient than R8 ducting.
