I can tell you that this modem does NOT have wifi. so if you have alexa for tablets,etc. it’s a no go. A: Yes, this modem supports phone, internet and cable TV, but you would still need a wireless router for WiFi.

They both provide two telephone line capability but the 1602 bonds to 16 downstream channels vs 8 channels with the 822. That means it’s capable of twice the download speeds. The 822 will realistically do 200 Mbps and the 1602 can do 400 Mbps realistically.
