Does RockShox Monarch RT have lockout?

The lock out on the RT isn’t a lock out, is just a platform. The must be something going on with the air though.

How do you set the rebound on RockShox?

For recommended rebound settings go to www.rockshox.com/app. After setting sag, adjust the rebound damper, go for a ride, and adjust again as preferred. To decrease rebound speed (slower return), turn the rebound adjuster clockwise. To increase rebound speed (faster return), turn the rebound adjuster counter-clockwise.

What pressure should my MTB suspension be?

Suspension is designed to work best with between 25-35% sag (AKA a quarter to a third). For example, on a 100mm travel bike you want to aim to have 25mm-33mm of sagged travel when you sit on your bike. In our experience it’s best to set your sag whilst standing up on the bike.

When should I service my RockShox monarch?

We recommend a full service on your RockShox Monarch Plus rear shock every 200hrs hours. Use this Rockshox 200hr service kit, which includes ALL of the shock’s air, damper seals.

Is RockShox Monarch good?

The Monarch is a classic for good reason. Sag markings and simple, intuitive controls make it a cinch to get set up. This RC3 Debonair version uses a huge negative chamber, giving (almost) coil-spring levels of sensitivity in the beginning stroke, before ramping up smoothly after sag to prevent wallow.

What does an IFP do?

An IFP is exactly what it sounds like, a piston floating inside the shock. Typically, it’s separating a high pressure nitrogen chamber on one side from the oil on the other. Mainly, this prevents cavitation by keeping pressure on the oil to help push it back through the rebound damping circuit, which is good.

How does the monarch RT inline shock work?

Taking a step up in the range and you’ll find the Monarch RT inline shock, this gets an Open/Threshold lever and rebound damping adjustment too. Remember the Threshold setting on that lever prevents the rear shock from compressing until there is a significant bump impact or downward force as opposed to a lockout.

What is the difference between the monarch RT and monarch RL?

Think of it as an Open mode and a pedal mode for more efficient pedalling. The Monarch RL is essentially the same shock as the Monarch RT but instead of an Open/Threshold lever, this one gets an Open/Lockout lever. In the lockout mode the shock resists any compression.

What type of air spring does RockShox use?

This is the standard air spring seen on RockShox forks and shocks. It’s called Solo air because you only need to add air to a single valve and the spring will equalise the negative chamber by itself. At one point, they had a Dual Air spring that required you to do this via a second valve, hence the name.
