What is Wavewatch III?

What is Wavewatch III?

WAVEWATCH III (https://github.com/noaa-emc/ww3) is a community wave modeling framework that includes the latest scientific advancements in the field of wind-wave modeling and dynamics. Propagation of a wave spectrum can be solved using regular (rectilinear or curvilinear) and unstructured (triangular) grids.

What is GFS wave?

The Global Forecast System (GFS) is a global numerical computer model run by the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). This mathematical model is run four times a day. The model does not predict individual wave heights but the expected wave field, which is an average of wave heights over a large area.

What is nww3?

NOAA. Forecast. WAVEWATCH III® (Tolman 1997, 1999a, 2009) is a third generation wave model developed at NOAA/NCEP in the spirit of the WAM model (WAMDIG 1988, Komen et al. 1994).

What is Swan model?

SWAN is a third-generation wave model, developed at Delft University of Technology, that computes random, short-crested wind-generated waves in coastal regions and inland waters. See a short overview of the model features of SWAN.

What is the language of the wave?

In historical linguistics, the wave model or wave theory (German Wellentheorie) is a model of language change in which a new language feature (innovation) or a new combination of language features spreads from its region of origin, affecting a gradually expanding cluster of dialects.

How do you predict surf swell?

Key factors of reading surf forecasts are:

  1. Swell size. The size of the wave, or swell height, is a measure in feet or meters.
  2. Swell period. The swell period is measured in seconds.
  3. Swell direction. Swell direction tells you where the swell is coming from in degrees/bearing.
  4. Wind direction.
  5. Wind strength/speed.
  6. Tide.

What is a WAM model?

The WAM model is a 3rd generation model which integrates the basic transport equation describing the evolution of a two-dimensional ocean wave spectrum without additional unplanned assumptions regarding the spectral shape. The model runs on a spherical latitude-longitude grid and can be used in any ocean region.

What is wind Modelling?

A physically-based wind model is applied to determine wind speed and direction and to conduct a model sensitivity analysis. The focus is the East African site of the Lake Turkana Wind Farm, characterized by complex terrain and high diurnal variability that creates a nocturnal jet of typically 15 m/s.

How many zones of disequilibrium are there in Swan model?

According to Swan, “The two curves of internal balance and external balance divide existence into four zones of economic unhappiness.” The four zones of disequilibrium are : Zone I : Inflation and BOP surplus. Zone II : Inflation and BOP deficit. Zone III : Unemployment and BOP deficit.
