What happened Xorn?
After his death, Xorn became a disembodied, sentient energy in space. During M-Day, he absorbed all the lost powers, becoming The Collective. The Collective came to Earth, with Xorn dominating the mix, making his way to Magneto and restoring his powers.
Why did Grant Morrison leave Marvel?
In 2001, Morrison left DC to take over Marvel’s flagship comic which they retitled New X-Men, rebooting the franchise in the process. Morrison’s stint on X-Men is considered one of their more controversial runs, as they radically altered many aspects of the book.

Magneto is…a good man who frequently does bad things. He lost his faith in humanity (meaning both non-mutants, and in his faith in human nature), as a child in The Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. Max Eisenhardt lost everything in that place, his family, his community, his innocence, his faith, and even his identity.
