You can technically clear CIF as soon as you have orders, and go back to get a stamp when you have your clearing papers… however, it would behoove you to not get on your commands bad side (especially on your way out).

What do I need to clear CIF?

- Barracks bag: Dirty, Name/Markings on Bag.
- Carrier, entrenching tool: Wash in warm soapy water inside and out, using a soft brush or green pad to remove black marks or rust spots.
- Chemical Suit (top or bottom): Remove any tape from the garment before washing in warm soapy water.

How long does CIF turn in take?
A complete CIF issue costs approximately $150 but we charge by the item so if you bring in less, then the cost is less. How long does it take? Standard turn around time is 2-3 days, but we do offer expedited services. (Note: turn around times can vary depending on the current workload).
Can you dry CIF gear in the dryer?
In order to ensure that none of your gear is damaged during the cleaning process, we suggest never putting it in the dryer. Instead, we recommend air drying it for the best results. This means you should plan for ample drying time before you need to return it to the CIF.
Can you turn in CIF without clearing papers?
Central Issue Facility (CIF): Hours Monday – Friday 0800 – 1200 (Turn In Only). Soldiers can turn in OCIE without clearing papers as long as they have orders or a memorandum authorizing clearing without orders signed by the Commander. Once clearing papers are received, return and CIF will stamp the papers.
