One of the world’s leaders in outboard motor manufacturing will no longer exist. Evinrude motors parent company, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), announced last week that it would discontinue manufacturing of its Evinrude E-TEC and E-TEC G2 outboard engines.

Still a great motor!! I see alot of tiller sized Etecs all year round,plus we have had 40 hp tillers for rental units.No brand is perfect, but in that size class,I have seen no more issues than any other brand. The best day I had with my Etech was the day i sold it.

When did Evinrude ETEC come out?
BRP stepped in, purchased the brand, recalled bad engines, improved the technology and brought Evinrude back to the marketplace in 2003 with the launch of the E-TEC line of outboards. These engines built on Evinrude’s commitment to two-strokes and delivered more torque and better fuel economy.
How does Evinrude ETEC work?
The Evinrude eTec outboards have 2 electrical circuits, a conventional 12 volt circuit, as well as a 55 volt output for the fuel injectors. This 55 volt circuit also powers the high pressure electric fuel pump on some models. The fuel is then injected into the cylinders at as much as 600psi.
