How long does it take to go through the Virginia Aquarium?
Allow at least 1-2 hours for a self-guided tour of the exhibits. Add an extra hour for an on-site program and a half an hour for lunch breaks.
Can you take snacks into the aquarium?
A: The Aquarium does not allow any outside food within the Aquarium. However, we do have picnic tables located on the plaza on a first come, first serve basis. Any snacks, lunches or edible items may be consumed in this area.

A: The Aquarium offers baby “backpacks”, which can be borrowed free of charge at our information desk. We do not offer strollers at this time. A credit card is required at the time of check out. While we do not have strollers for use, you are always welcome to bring your own.

- Decorations: Only those designated for aquariums (e.g., live or artificial plants and ornaments).
- Water Conditioner: De chlorinates tap water to make it fish-safe.
- Net: For transferring fish.
