Do KMC Chains come with master links?
For years KMC, YBN, SRAM and Wippermann have used such links, while Shimano and Campagnolo held out and stuck with special replacement pins. However, even Shimano is now changing its tune and its latest 11 and 12 speed chains are available with master links.

I ordered this KMC Missing Link because it is advertised as working with 5, 6 or 7 speed chains. When I received my Missing Link, it was too narrow to snap on the six speed chain. I then took out my digital calipers and measured the length of one of the rollers in the six speed chain and came up with 7.27 mm.

How do you use a missing link on a chain?
Pull chain from opposite ends to lock. Press both plates together while sliding the chain ends towards each other. Non-reuseable MissingLinks have a latch design, which can only be used once. Re-usable MissingLinks have no latch design, which could be used 3 to 5 times. CL571R applies for: Z92, Z82, Z72, Z51 of KMC chains.
Will the link work with an 8 speed chain?
Perhaps for an eight speed chain (which is narrower) they would work.Since the Link is advertised as working with a six speed chain but does not fit, I have to knock it down three stars. Installing a chain is easy with this link!
